The Seventh World Conference on Media Economics, which was hosted by Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai branch) together with China Education Press Agency, was held on May 16, 2006 in Beijing. Xu Jialu, vice-chairman of People’s Congress Standing Committee, sent a congratulatory letter to the conference while Li Weihong, vice-minister of Ministry of Education, attended and delivered speech at the opening session. Zheng Baowei, professor from Renmin University of China, chaired the conference and made a brief introduction of how China was bidding for and preparing the conference.  Professor Robert.G.Picard from Sweden Jonkoping University acted as the progenitor and delivered a short speech.  Zhao Qizheng, dean of Journalism school of Renmin University of China expressed warmest welcome to all the representatives.
