High-end Seminar on Physics entered the School
A seminar entitled “Interest Talks on Micro Particles” was held in RUC’s classroom number 1205 on 3 March 2006. The seminar was presented by Professor Zheng Zhipeng, formerly Director of the Institute of High-Power Physics at the China Academy of Sciences and President of Guangxi University. Among the audience were Zhao Qizheng, Dean of the RUC’s School of Journalism and formerly Director of the State Council’s News Office, Professor Gao Gang, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of the School, and Professor Wang Xiaoqun, Head of RUC’s Department of Physics.
In his speech, Professor Zheng approached his topic on micro particles from five different aspects including the wonderful world of micro particles, and the four forces in human society. The speech was accessible and lively in style. It delivered enlightening knowledge to the students, who warmly clapped hands from time to time.
A brief speech by Dean Professor Zhao Qizheng drew the seminar to a close. Professor Zhao noted that RUC students must be prepared to learn both humanities and natural sciences. Humanities students, by learning more the logic, method of thinking and epistemology of natural sciences, are likely to promote the development of their thinking. And this will help to promote the development of a humanities- and social sciences-based university such as RUC into an university of world advanced standard.
