I, Chen Lidan, male, was born in Feb., 1951 in Nanjing City and my native place is Tongzhou City of Jiangsu Province. I am currently working with the Journalism College of Renmin University of China. I’m a professor of responsibility of my college, a doctoral advisor, head of the college’s post-doctoral research station, editor-in-chief of the monthly “International Journalism ” and head of the Institute of Journalism and Communication of Research Center of Journalism and Social Development. Educational Background
1976 graduated from the Chinese Department of Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism
1981 graduated from the Journalism Department of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with a master’s degree in Literature
Work Experience
1968-1973 worked with the No.8 Regiment of the Production and Construction Corps of Heilongjiang Province (now called No.290 Farm)
1976-1978 worked with Guangming Daily
1981-2003 worked with the Journalism and Communication Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Vice-director of research division (1985-1988); promoted to be director of research division (1988); associate professor and postgraduate advisor(1987-1993); full professor and winner of the Special Pension Awarded by the State Council(1993); doctoral advisor(1998-).

Publications:
I’ve published books and other writings on journalism and communication studies that total more than 7 million Chinese characters. These include 12 books, more than 200 articles and more than 1,200 other sorts of essays. I’ve also compiled 4 books and published about a dozen collaborative books.
My masterpieces are:
“Spiritual Communication”, 450,000 Chinese characters, published in 1993 by Kaiming Press and republished in 2002.
“Public Opinion Studies”, 220,000 Chinese characters, published in 1999 by China Broadcasting and Television Press, printed for 3 times.
“An Introduction to Marxist Journalism Thoughts”, 400,000 Chinese characters, published in 2003 by Fudan Press, printed for 2 times.
According to the data provided by CNKI, I published 263 articles from 1994 to 2004 and that number ranked No.1 in the circle of journalism and communication studies in China. My articles have been cited for 365 times and this number ranked No.2. According to the data provided by CSSCI of Nanjing University, I published 66 articles from 1998 to 2003 and that number ranked No.1 in my circle in China. My articles have been cited for 127 times and this number ranked No.2.
